THE BIG I DO REDO

We’ve had to make the decision to postpone the London Ball portion of THE BIG I DO REDO. This is due 100% to the current climate and we look forward to revisiting this in better times.

However, the Home Parties and the eBay auction are still very much still going on. So, if you were thinking about coming to the Ball, please get together with some friends and raise money for Pancreatic Cancer UK. It’s a great charity and they really need our support.

Hyatt Regency Sharm el Sheikh has generously donated a week’s Bed & Breakfast at their fabulous Egyptian resort as the star prize in our auction. I’m looking forward to seeing the entertaining Fingers Fingleton, our auctioneer for the night, work his magic in aid of Pancreatic Cancer UK and Macmillan Cancer Support.

We’re excited to announce that THE BIG I DO REDO will be the UK Wedding launch of PicFlips, which are flip books made of you while you wait! Using a white background and a variety of fun props, the PicFlips team takes a short video clip of you larking about in front of the camera. Then within one and a half minutes, they turn the video clip into a flip book while you watch. The book is then printed and ready for you to take away and flip to your heart’s content. 

For anyone who is scratching their heads and wondering what a Flip Book is, it’s a small book that, when you flip through the pages really quickly, the images move like a video clip. 

The flip books will be on sale at the event for only £10 each. PicFlips is donating a portion from every book sold to the charity fund. You can read more about PicFlips at www.iloveflipbooks.com.

Richard Marcel will be choreographing a special Dirty Dancing tribute to be performed by his dancers at the London Ball at Andaz. Richard is the genius behind some of the best moments in the recent Comic Relief Let’s Dance competition on BBC, including Paddy and Keith’s rendition of the famous dance to I’ve Had the Time of My Life (I challenge them to a dance off! ;o)  Richard is also a regular contributor on Strictly Come Dancing and has worked with Madonna, George Michael and Diana Ross, to name a few.

We are so excited for him and his dancers to get involved in THE BIG I DO REDO. And there may be a few surprises too…

I’ve already made my booking!

As the word is spreading across the bridal community about THE BIG I DO REDO, the donations for our upcoming eBay auction are flooding in. We already have generous donations from Cliveden House, Peggy Porschen Cakes, Giles Sherlock Event Design, and Mia Masri, to name a few.

The other day, I received an email from Susan Blackler at Wow Tiaras. Interestingly, Susan was a medical doctor before changing careers to making tiaras. She herself admits that it was quite a leap. In her email to me, Susan said: “I looked after many patients with cancer and I often felt particularly sorry for those with pancreatic cancer as, despite the advances which have been made in many other areas, pancreatic cancer still has such a poor survival outcome.  The patients were often young and hadn’t smoked and really couldn’t understand why their life was to be cut so drastically short.” Even as I write this, my eyes are tearing up at her words.  Susan is kindly donating a tiara for the auction.

Thank you to Susan and all the other suppliers who have already stepped up to the plate. We look forward to hearing from more of you as we get closer to THE BIG I DO REDO.

We were so happy to read that Patrick is going to be appearing in the new TV series, The Beast. In the show, he will play an FBI agent and filming is expected to start in August. You can read more on the BBC website.

We’re so excited about THE BIG I DO REDO and we’re looking forward to sharing behind-the-scenes info with you about the planning of such a massive, glamorous event. Nancy, Sonja and I (Julia) will all be adding to the blog, giving you an insight into the different aspects of putting something like this together. Also, we’ll be doing some video diary entries, which you’ll be able to see on my You Tube site (www.youtube.com/juliaboggio). Coming soon, you’ll be able to watch my first attempt in three years to get back in my wedding dress. Scary!

Please take some time to explore the website. There are still a few nips and tucks to come, but we’re aiming to stack it full of useful information on how you can get involved in this worthy cause. For example, if you don’t think you’ll be able to make it to London for the big event, then consider throwing a Mini I Do Redo in the comfort of your own home or town. Sort of like a Macmillan Coffee Morning, but with alcohol and in your wedding dress. Also, if you’ve got a ways to go to get back into your wedding dress, why not get your friends to sponsor you to do it? More information will be available soon on how to set up a Just Giving site for this purpose.In the meantime, if you would like to come to THE BIG I DO REDO, get your ticket requests in. There are only 300 tickets available and they’ve already started moving.Only 156 days until November 1!
